I must have been 22 years young at the time. I was somewhat fresh off a break-up with my high school sweetheart of 3 1/2 years. I was ringing 411 for some reason or another and got connected to Brandon, the Sprint operator with an amazing silky smooth baritone voice. I asked him for the number to a local restaurant I was interested. We started chatting about the type of food that was served there and how much we loved Margaritas ad it took off from that point on.
I pproceeded to ring him two nights later and we chatted again, over 411 lines. He had my number as it showed up over his computer system. I agreed on the second night for him to ring me at anytime. He did and we also began sending letters and pictures from my home town of Nebraska to Minnesota where he lived.
After a few months time we chatted about making a time to see each other, maybe meet half way between NE&MN. In such a convenient fashion, my good friend Jen had happened to land a weekend job for car sales in MN in two weeks time. Did i mention it was right next to The Mall of America! It was the perfect opportunity to meet. We were ecstatic to find we would be seeing&meeting each other face to face after a few months of chatting.
The date was set. My bags were packed. The rental car, a red convertible, naturally. Jen and I were off to MN, her to work and me to find my Sprint operator. Roger Miller's "King of the Road" in the CD player, top down, we were off! The drive took around 7 hours. We arrived Friday afternoon and met him and his friend at his apartment. (no fear on either mine or Jens part that we were walking into a perfect strangers apartment)
Brandon and I were like two peas in a pod. Jen and his friend, Dave, not so much. He looked just as he did in the photos, only better. Funny, he looked like Brandon Fraiser, who I adored from the movie "George of the Jungle." The four of us had dinner and then went too a club to dance. A huge club. Three or four floors. I was called "Gay 90's." Wow, was it spectacular!
I mean, I knew the gamit on the "GLBT" scene as my sister came out in 1994 and I took it upon myself to get educated as much as possible on the culture, respect, ect, ect. Reading and educating yourself is one thing. Experiencing a gay club for the first time coming from little ol' Lincoln,NE. is another. I. was. in. love. Not only with the club, drag shows and dancing. I was in love with this man who brought me here.
We had THE best time. Strangely, not once did I question why he was bringing me and my friend to a gay bar with his friend. Never dawned on me. We drank, danced and laughed till the wee hours. The club was closing and it was time to end my night with Brandon. His friend took off from the club earlier in the evening. Jen gave Brandon a ride back to his place. I walked him inside and said good night. . .

My Apologies
I have been quite poor at updating this blog as I am without an internet connection(Oct 5th cannot come soon enough). When I do get on here to post I get very lost(gasp!). Me lost on a computer, I know sounds crazy. Between school, work, and general life stuff I am not happy with neglecting this page.
I promise to post again before the end of the week.
Until then i will post five things I am greatful for today:
1) The kids at work today were great and they loved my dinner
2) I paid my electric bill
3) I danced in the kitchen with the kids at work
4) I felt compassion for Jesus hanging on the cross while I did arm excersizes.
5) My kids all said thank you for dinner
